Gangland hit victim Eoin Boylan was just 3 steps from family home when he died in hail of bullets

Gangland hit victim Eoin Boylan was just three steps away from sanctuary when he died in a hail of bullets.

The fifth victim of the murderous Coolock drugs feud was shot within reach of a heavy side door of his family home on Sunday evening.

He was hit at least six times in the upper body before he could find refuge.

Yesterday a forensic team were carrying out a detailed examination and search of the house on Clonshaugh Avenue where Eoin Boylan was murdered.

They removed a number of items.

A pair of heavy kettle bells, used for weight training, were left in the driveway of the house as well as black refuse bags containing potential evidence.

Boylan is the fifth victim of the Coolock drugs feud.

There had been at least one previous attempt on the life of the An Post worker.

He had also been warned by gardai his life was in danger.

The battle for control of the drugs trade in the North City began earlier this year.

It began in January with the death of 23-year-old Zach Parker outside a gym near Swords

Since then the feud has claimed four more lives including Eoin Boylan.

Less than 20 hours after the murder of Eoin Boylan, the body of another man was discovered in a disused shipping container in Ballymun.

The grisly discovery was made just five kilometres from Clonshaugh Avenue, Coolock where Boylan was shot.

The unidentified man’s body was found shortly before 11am yesterday on overgrown wasteland beside Balbutcher Lane.

There were signs of injury on the remains but gardai believe the deaths are not linked.

The area where the man’s body was found has been used by drug users in the past as well as rough sleepers.

Gardai believe the death may be the result of a “personal tragedy.”

A preliminary post mortem was conducted at the scene before the remains were removed from the scene last night.

Investigations are continuing.

Local Fianna Fail councillor Keith Connolly said the community in Ballymun is shocked at news of the discovery of the man’s body.

“These are two very serious incidents to have happened on the northside of Dublin in the past 24 hours less than 5km apart,” he said.

Mr Connolly called for more Garda resources to deal with violent incidents.

“We have seen more gardai being sent to Drogheda to deal with a criminal feud there so we need the same for north Dublin to prevent a further escalation to these incidents,” he said.
