Gang went up to man sat in his car and demanded he handed it over - then stabbed him

A gang of knife-wielding thugs approached a man sat in his car and demanded he hand it over before slashing his face.

The 24-year-old man was sat in his vehicle on Orient Street in Salford when the group of men approached him.

One of the thugs demanded that he hand over his car, while another man stabbed him with a knife.

He was taken to hospital from the scene with facial injuries and has since been discharged, police said.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police taped off the road after the incident at around 6pm on Wednesday (August 19).

Several police vehicles were pictured at the scene in the hours after the attack.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 6pm on Wednesday 19 August 2020, police were called to reports of a robbery on Orient Street, Salford.

"Enquiries have established that a 24-year-old man was sat in his car when he was approached by a group of men.

"One of the men demanded that the victim hand over his car whilst another of the men, who was wielding a knife, stabbed the victim.

"Emergency services attended and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries. He has since been discharged.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
