Gang on motorbikes force way into shop and make off with cigs and cash

A gang of burglars fled on motorbikes after breaking into a Runcorn shop to steal cigarettes and cash.

Cheshire police said five men forced their way in via the shutters and front door at the Best One store on Beechwood Avenue at some time between 1.41am and 1.51am on Sunday.

They then fled on motorbikes along Beechwood Avenue.

Detective Sergeant Rob McLoughlin said: “I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage which has captured the events to contact us.

“We’re making a number of enquiries in the area and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have information that will help with our investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire police on 101 or via the force website quoting IML 1000173.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
