A group of young boys and girls were seen throwing bricks at a bus and setting bins alight in shocking scenes in a Liverpool street.

The anti-social behaviour took place in the Altcross Road of Croxteth on Tuesday night, and is believed to have involved a group of youths from the ages of 12 to 15.

At around 8.45pm it was reported youths were setting fire to bins in Alt Park, Croxteth.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and put out the fires, and no injuries were reported.

Shortly afterwards, at around 9.40pm, it was reported that a bus had been damaged after a group of male and female youths had thrown bricks at it.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incidents with Merseyside Police investigating.

Community Inspector Sarah Rotherham said: “Everyone in Merseyside has the right to feel safe and protected where they live and we do not tolerate anti-social behaviour on our streets.

"We know the nuisance and disruption that can be caused by wanton acts of criminal damage such as this, therefore I urge all parents and guardians of young people across Merseyside to know where they are, who they are with, what they are doing and make sure they are abiding by Covid rules.

"We know how concerning anti-social behaviour can be for the community, particularly vulnerable and elderly people, so I strongly encourage members of the public to report incidents of anti-social behaviour to the police so we can take action.”

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information on these incidents or any anti-social behaviour in their area to contact police by direct messaging @MerPolCC on Twitter or calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
