Gang of yobs target funeral directors in late night attack

A gang of yobs, including two young women, were caught on CCTV laughing and joking while vandalising a Liverpool funeral directors' premises.

The images were caught shortly after midnight today, and appeared to show one person filming the group vandalising the planters in front of the office on Allerton Road. They are shown to pick up and deliberately fling the planters on to the pavement, smashing them in the process.

The images were posted in a local Crimewatch group by Richard & Shannon Jenkins funeral directors after they discovered the damage.

Project manager Barry Jenkins said: "We're disappointed that people would choose to vandalise something that we've provided for not just our business but the local community to enjoy and try and bring some colour to Allerton Road.

"We've had a great response from the local community wanting to come and help repair the damage."

In line with normal practice, the ECHO is not revealing the faces of those in the video while police carry out their investigation.

Police confirmed they were appealing for information following criminal damage in Allerton in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

A spokesperson said: "It was reported that at around 12.30am one male and two females were captured on CCTV taking plants from their pots outside a funeral directors on Allerton Road and throwing them on the road.

"Enquiries are now underway to identify the suspects and bring them to justice. Anyone with information or witnessed the incident is asked to please contact us."
