Gang of women and men slice man's ear in appalling machete street attack

A man was spat on, punched and kicked before having his ear sliced with a machete after being set upon by a gang of women and men in a sickening street attack.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was rounded upon by his attackers as he walked down a residential street at the weekend.

Police say the gang of women and men spat on him before raining blows on the victim - kicking and punching him in the head and body during the attack around 9pm on Saturday.

The man, who was walking along Flaxton in Skelmersdale , was then struck with what police termed "a machete type weapon" leaving him with a serious injury to his ear.

Now detectives have launched a hunt for those behind the "violent and unprovoked attack".

DC Kate Molloy of Skelmersdale Police said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack and a man has been left with a serious injury.

“We are making a number of enquiries to find whoever is responsible. If you were in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious, please contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact DC Kate Molloy on 01695 566165 or call 101 quoting log number 1645 of Saturday 7th September 2019.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
