Gang of thugs mug Scots cyclist at knife-point and steal his expensive bike

A manhunt has been launched for a gang of thugs who mugged a Scots cyclist at knife-point before stealing his expensive bike.

Police have launched a probe after the terrified man was robbed of his high-value mountain bike in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, at around 8pm on Saturday, April 10.

The 42-year-old victim was riding his black Specialized Stumpjumper Mountain Bike along the canal path near to Balmuildy Road when the three men blocked the pathway.

One of the men produced a knife and threatened the victim, demanding his bike.

The suspects, who spoke with local accents and were wearing dark hooded tops with scarfs covering their faces, then made off with the bike towards the Possil Marsh area.

Detective Constable Mark Milroy from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt during the robbery, but it was still a very distressing experience, and it is vital we trace the despicable individuals responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was on the canal path around 8pm on Saturday night, and witnessed what happened or noticed three men in possession of a mountain bike, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 0864 of Sunday, April 11.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
