A probe has been launched after a gang of thugs battered a young man on a path between two Scots towns.
The man was set upon by three or four others as he walked on Black Path between Galashiels and Tweedbank, in the Scottish Borders, around 10pm on Friday, July 31.
A couple told the man to beware of the group hanging around the path before the vicious assault took place.
The severity of any injuries suffered is not known at this time.
Police have issued a description for one member of the gang who is said to have been 'wearing dark blue jeans, distinctive footwear and spoke with a croaky voice.'
A statement issued by cops said they were also looking to make contact with the couple who had advised the man.
It read: "We are appealing for information regarding an assault that took place on the Black Path between Galashiels and Tweedbank just before 10pm on the 31st July 2021.
"One young male was assaulted by three to four males, one male is described as wearing dark blue jeans, distinctive footwear and spoke with a croaky voice.
"Officers are particularly keen to speak with a couple who spoke with the victim around the Netherdale area of Galashiels to advise him of males hanging around the Black Path.
"Anybody with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or via our online “Contact Us” page and quote reference number 4202 31/07/2021.
