Gang of Scots mum selling fake luxury goods on social media shut down site

A secret online group selling fake designer gear set up by a gang of Scottish women has been shut down.

Yesterday, we exposed Mirror Mirror for selling dodgy replicas from their homes in a sideline worth thousands.

But the Facebook page was pulled down after we spoke to one of the women running the site – who protested she didn’t know she was doing anything wrong.

Despite openly admitting on the page they were selling copies of the original brand, Lynn Rankin told the Daily Record “everyone does it” and denied any wrongdoing.

Lynn Rankin ran the Mirror Mirror site (UGC)

The page had almost 14,000 members looking to save cash on replicas of their favourite big-name brands such as Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga.

Members of the site include wealthy Scots and a number of minor celebrities.

When the Daily Record spoke to Rankin at her home, she initially denied being involved in the Facebook page but then said: “Why are you just concentrating on me? There are other people doing it as well.

“One of the other women broke off and started up her own page doing it.”

She added: “I didn’t realise I was doing anything wrong.

"If I close the page will that make any difference? I don’t want to lose my job.

"I’m currently off sick. Can you tell me who told you about it? I want to know.

"I will definitely close down the group.”

Rankin named several other group members and another group admin who left to set up her own counterfeits business.

The site’s knock-off goods included Rolex watches, Louis Vuitton bags and purses, Gucci bags and designer dupe trainers.

Trading Standards believes profits from the sale of fake goods are ploughed into other types of organised crime including drug dealing and people trafficking.
