Gang of men 'armed with knives' threatened witness as they tried to steal catalytic converter

Police have launched a manhunt after a gang of men 'armed with knives' threatened a witness who approached them trying to steal a catalytic converter.

The three thieves were attempting to take a catalytic converter from a Honda Accord in Pepper Lane, Standish, on Friday evening.

A man approached the gang as they tried to steal the car part, before being threatened by the knife-wielding thugs.

The three men then fled the scene in a grey Seat Leon.

Greater Manchester Police is now appealing for the public's help as they attempt to trace the culprits.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 8.45pm on Friday 29 January 2021, police were called to reports that three men armed with knives were attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a Honda Accord on Pepper Lane, Standish.

"The men made threats towards a man who approached them before the trio fled in a grey Seat Leon.

"No-one was injured and enquiries are ongoing to trace the offenders."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 2717 of 29/01/21, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
