Gang of masked men smash through door in terrifying attempted Meath robbery

A Meath homeowner was left terrified after a group of masked robbers smashed in their rear door in an attempted burglary.

The incident happened in the Newcastle area of Enfield in Co Meath shortly after 5.30 pm last Friday.

Gardai believe three masked men, wearing all black, broke into the home by shattering the rear patio door.

The burglars fled the scene after being disturbed by the homeowner.

Gardai have issued an appeal for information and dashcam footage of the incident.

A spokesperson for the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook group said: "Trim Gardai are investigating a burglary which occurred in the Newcastle area of Enfield on Friday last, December 10th, between 5.30pm and 5.40pm.

"The rear patio door was smashed and entry was gained. 3 masked males wearing all black were disturbed by the home owner and fled.

"Anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area or if you were travelling on the R402 Enfield at the time and may have Dash Cam footage, please contact Trim Garda Station on 046 9481540."
