Gang of 15 teenagers shout racist abuse and 'bite' delivery driver

A gang of teenagers launched a reportedly racist attack towards a delivery driver in a town centre.

Police were called to Church Street in St Helens, where a group of 15 teenage boys were found to have assaulted a delivery driver and hurled racist abuse towards the man.

Shocked onlookers recorded the altercation before the gang of yobs fled towards Church Square Shopping Centre.

Witnesses claim to have seen the group 'biting' the man, and footage shows several boys kicking him to the ground and shouting.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 2.10pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday 6 March) officers were called to a report of assault on Church Street in St Helens.

"A group of around 15 teenage boys assaulted a delivery driver on Church Street and made racist comments towards the man.

"The group then fled towards Church Square Shopping centre. The man did not seek any medical treatment after the incident.

"CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
