'Gang members' in pub rampage banned from speaking to each other

Two suspected gang members threw pint glasses and chairs as they went on a rampage in a pub.

Stephen Grimes, 22, and Joel Dowling, 22, also threatened a man with a knife inside the Elmridge Arms, in Skelmersdale.

Both men, of no fixed address, have been jailed and told neither of them can enter the pub for two years.

Police said the pair caused mayhem in the venue on September 14 and both pleaded guilty to affray.

As well as being handed prison sentences, the duo were granted a gang injunction at Liverpool Crown Court along with Joel Maguire, 19, of Fairlie, Skelmersdale.

Maguire, Grimes and Dowling had previously been subject to an interim order which was granted in September.

They are now not allowed to communicate with each other, or a list of eight other associates.

Skelmersdale Police said: "Restrictions have been put in place preventing the men engaging in any abusive, threatening or intimidating conduct, threatening to use or encouraging others to use violence, as well as congregating in a public place in a group of two or more people.

"They are also not permitted to be in a vehicle with two or more people in the West Lancashire area with the exception being if Maguire is travelling to or from work.

"This injunction will still be in place when Grimes and Dowling are released from prison."

Dowling was given a ten-month custodial sentence and Grimes received an eight-month sentence.
