A gang member who 'terrorised L8' has been arrested again after being accused of breaking an injunction for the third time.

Kane Omar was arrested on Smithdown Road this week and found with a number of mobile phones.

The 23-year-old from Toxteth was charged with breaching the terms of his Gang Injunction and will stand trial in October.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Officers have also arrested and charged a 23-year-old man for breaching the terms of his Gang Injunction.

"Kane Omar from Toxteth was stopped by officers in a car on Smithdown Road and had a number of mobile phones in his possession.

"He has been charged with breaching the terms of his Gang Injunction and will stand trial in October."

This is now the third time Omar has broken his gang ban since he was issued with it in April 2018.

Four other men were also handed the injunctions after they were linked to a "comprehensive case" of "gang violence" in Toxteth and Dingle.

The legal orders banned them from dealing with almost 20 associates, riding scrambler bikes and from entering parts of Liverpool city centre and the L7 and L8 postcodes.

A further condition prevented them from owning mobile phones without first registering them with Merseyside Police.

In October last year, Omar, who was left wheelchair bound after being shot in December 2017, was jailed for six weeks after being found associating with gang allies who were named on the order.

Less than two months later, he was back behind bars after being spotted with mobile phones near Switch Island .

Omar's arrest this week came as Merseyside Police officers targeted criminals involved in serious and organised crime in Toxteth.

Officers recovered cannabis, suspected cocaine, cash and designer clothing during the week of action which included raids on nine houses and a number of road side policing checks.
