Gang 'known to Gardai' stung as huge haul of fireworks and cash seized at Dublin home

Gardai confirmed this morning that a follow-up operation in Dublin in connection to a Munster haul last night led to the seizure of a further €88,000 in cash and a quantity of fire-works.

As part of the investigation into the seizure of €130,000 of suspected cannabis and cash in Castlemartyr, Cork on Tuesday, Gardaí from Tallaght executed a search warrant at a house in the Tallaght area at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

As well as this, Gardaí also seized €22,000 of suspected cannabis plants and herb in relation to the investigation following a search of a house in West Cork yesterday afternoon.

No arrests were made in Dublin or in the west Cork seizures but Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.

In West Cork yesterday at 3.30pm, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house at Union Hall.

During the course of the search Gardaí discovered €7,000 of suspected cannabis plants that were in a tent inside the house.

As the search of the house continued Gardaí found €15,000 of suspected cannabis herb and a weighing scales.

Two men were arrested in Castlemartyr earlier in the week and remain in Garda custody.

All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
