Gang jump out of white van and attack man with weapons

A gang seriously injured a man after attacking him with weapons on a Bootle street.

The gang, travelling in a white van, carried out the attack on Fernhill Road at around 8.15pm on Tuesday, May 23. It is understood it was a targeted attack.

A police cordon was put in place around the area yesterday while crime scene investigators continued their forensic examinations and witness enquiries. The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A cordon was also put in place surrounding a home on Aintree Road and an investigation is currently underway.

Detective Inspector Samantha Davies said: “To carry such dangerous weapons in a residential area where families live to harm others is reckless and unacceptable behaviour and our officers are working to find those responsible.

“Merseyside Police is committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons from our streets alongside our partners, but we also need your support.”

“I urge any residents who live on Fernhill Road or the surrounding area and has any doorbell or CCTV footage from Tuesday night to please check their systems. If you have any information which could help us, please get in touch so we can bring those responsible to justice.”

If you have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, or any information about this incident please DM Merseyside Police's social media desk on Twitter @Merseypolice, or Facebook 'Merseyside Police Contact Centre' quoting reference 23000440246. Alternatively you can call the independent @CrimestoppersUK hotline anonymously on 0800 555 111.
