Gang in North Dublin threw 'stones, bricks and bottles at young people with disabilities' before burning their equipment

The head of a group who looks after children and young people with disabilities has described the horror attack on the youngsters by a group in north Dublin.

Sandra Dilon, who runs the Finglas based group MPAC (Meeting Place Club), said that the children were targeted by a group of young hooligans who used 'bottles, bricks and stones' as weapons to attack the group.

One of the children, who is wheelchair bound, was left "petrified" following the disgusting attack.

The torture didn't stop there - the group then went on to burn a container which had the children's belongings inside.

The allotments were kept at the back of the Ardmore Hotel on Tolka Valley Road.

Speaking to Dublin Live, Sandra said that she too had been chased by one of the attackers who was ready to hit her with a bottle.

Sandra said: "At our Horticultural therapy session with Sean Keating, who is part of our club, the trouble began as they started aiming at us with bottles and stone mixed in with verbal abuse.

"We also had a film crew from DCC teaching the teenagers, who have high functioning autism, how to make their own films.

"Eventually we had to finish early due to health and safety risks."

The attacks became more and more violent and eventually, events took a horrific turn.

Sandra continued: "Monday night they broke in at 10 o’clock and broke the locks and destroyed some equipment that we store from the clubs there.

"The container was set on fire and the group rained down bricks at us.

She said: "One lad in a grey hoodie ran through the broken fence and threw a large brick at two individuals from DCU who came to do a site visit for a project they planned for the allotments in the summer.

"It’s just horrible and so so upsetting."

Dublin Live has contacted An Garda Siochana and DCC in relation to the matter.
