Gang drag girl by hair and stamp on her head in street fight

A schoolgirl was dragged by the hair and had her head stamped on as others filmed the shocking attack.

Maddison, 13, had got off the bus and was walking home down Seaforth Road at around 8.45pm on Saturday, May 21 when her mum, Leanne Bennet, says she was followed by a "gang of seven" teenagers. According to Leanne one of the girls, who is known to her daughter, approached Maddison and started asking about who she was friends with and why.

Maddison reportedly walked ahead of the gang to try and avoid confrontation, when one of the girls kicked the 13-year-old in the back. The kick, which was videoed by another teenager in the gang, pushed Maddison down to the floor.

The footage then showed the teen hitting Maddison on her head repetitively before she managed to get up and throw a punch, which her mum said was "to defend herself". A second girl then walked over and pulled Maddison's hair, dragging her to the floor again.

The first teenager then stamped on Maddison's head before a passing car stopped to break up the fight. Leanne said her daughter was not seriously injured but suffered grazes on her hand and knee.

Leanne told The ECHO : "She was on the bus with her two friends, one got off before her and another afterwards. She was walking back home when this gang of three boys and four girls started following her.

"The girl was asking why she was mates with somebody and Maddison tried to walk away from them because she didn't want to fight or argue. This girl then kicked her in the back and ragged her by her hair.

"It wasn't until a man and woman in a car stopped and shouted 'ay' that they walked away. The woman walked her home, and when I didn't answer the door took her to my mum's a few streets away."

Leanne said when her mum called to her let her know what happened she "ran over in her slippers" thinking the worst had happened.

She said: "When I got there she was crying and told me what happened. She said they were posting the video on Snapchat. I was so angry."

Leanne reported the incident to Merseyside Police and the force said they are investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm we are investigating an assault in Seaforth which took place last week. On Saturday, May 21, we received a report that a 13-year-old female was approached by three females.
