Gang 'banging the door' off house with newborn baby inside during 'attempted robbery' in north Dublin

A gang of "three animals" allegedly caused mayhem when it is claimed they tried to break in at a home in Glasnevin in the early hours of the morning.

The trio apparently were "banging the door" of a house shortly after 5:30am.

A resident posted about the ordeal in a local Facebook group and said their brother's house was targeted.

The resident said: "Three animals tried to get into my brothers house this morning in the Pinewood area.

"These didn't give a s**t about how much noise they made banging the door or the dog behind the door barking they were adamant to get in.

"They ran when my brother ran down the stairs thank God."

The post said that there was two children asleep in the house and a newborn baby and its mother were up for a night feed.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai attended an incident in Glasnevin, Dublin 11 on the 4th January 2022 at 5:41am following reports of a number of individuals acting suspiciously at the entrance of a house.

"They were gone on the arrival of Gardaí. No offences disclosed."
