A gang of train thugs targeted a young boy after following him from a DART station and assaulting him in broad daylight.
The youngster suffered a perforated eardrum in the terrifying attack, which was only brought to a halt when a brave local woman intervened.
The 15-year-old was walking to Dalkey train station on Monday around 5:30pm when he suspected he was being followed by the group of around ten thugs, who had reportedly been spotted hanging around the village earlier that evening.

As the youngster was about to get on his train, the thugs ran across to his platform and jumped onto the carriage behind him.
The intimidating group of young men, described as being in their late teens, then began making comments about the boy's jacket.
It was after the boy had got off at Glenageary Station and began waking home that the gang pounced.

Fortunately, a lady happened to be driving past and stopped, shouting at the cowardly thugs to stop. At this point the gang ran off.
A family friend told Dublin Live that the poor youngster managed to hold on to his jacket, but added that he "was extremely upset and frightened".
The terrifying incident was reported to gardai at Dun Laoghaire, who took his statement later that evening.
