Gamlins Law launch HR company led by their legal eagle and RNLI helmsman Elissa Thursfield

A leading North Wales law firm has launched its own specialist HR company.

The directors of Gamlins Law have set up HR Anchor to provide clients with a comprehensive range of HR, health and safety, occupational health and payroll services.

HR Anchor clients will also be able to tap into the employment law services of Gamlins Law.

The two companies have their head office in Rhyl but work with clients across North Wales and the rest of the UK.

HR Anchor is led by director Elissa Thursfield, who is also the law firm’s head of employment law.

Elissa said: “HR Anchor is led by a team of solicitors with combined expertise in employment and commercial law, all with a background of having built and developed businesses through their careers.

“Many HR businesses are still operating on outdated business models, encouraging businesses to either settle matters or structure their advice to reduce the risk to an insurance company in the case of insurance-backed services.

“This can result in businesses feeling they have lost control of their day-to-day employee decisions.

“Employees are savvy. With the explosion of information on the internet, abolition of tribunal fees and easy access to ‘no win no fee’ solicitors, employees will take advantage of a ‘settlement’ culture in a business to achieve a pay out, or cause significant problems in a business where there is a fear of dismissing staff.

“Our services are designed to assist businesses in any employee matters, from drug testing, employee monitoring to internal procedures, tribunals and health and safety.

“The aim is to provide companies with practical, innovative advice and guidance to allow them to protect and grow their businesses.

“Our support includes the ability to have hands on HR assistance in your business as well as remote support in a cost- effective way that suits your specific business needs.”

The HR Anchor team can provide advice in relation to disciplinary issues, grievances, contracts of employment, handbooks, redundancies, TUPE, maternity, sickness issues, holiday pay and investigations.

It can also undertake investigations, holding formal meetings or oversee an entire process including managing TUPE transfers, redundancy process and employee mediation.

Elissa added: “We offer a range of flexible packages to suit businesses of all sizes whether they require a light touch approach and occasional guidance, or for our team to provide more intensive support. We can also provide all our services in Welsh.

“The HR Anchor name came about because our services are about providing businesses with strength and stability when they need it most.”
