Games Workshop Warhammer: The celebrity fans of tabletop game that may surprise you

Warhammer and other Games Workshop products have worldwide popularity - and a number of celebrities are fans of the Nottingham-based company.

Actors, musicians and comedians are all big fans of the company's products - based in Lenton.

Games Workshop's popularity is clear to see when you look at its sales figures.

In January, Nottinghamshire Live reported profits soared at the Warhammer creator in what bosses have deemed 'another cracking performance'.

And British actor Henry Cavill, who played Superman and Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher, has recently spoken of his love for the games.

"You put them together in little armies and you fight against someone else’s army," Henry told Graham Norton on his show. "It’s fun. It sounds ridiculous but it is fun."

Other reported celebrity fans of the company's products and tabletop gaming include Ed Sheeran, Vin Diesel, creator of South Park Trey Parker and the late great Robin Williams.

The tabletop gaming firm released its financial results for the six months to November 29, 2020, which show an increase in revenue to £186.8 million.

For the six months to December 2019, just months before the coronavirus pandemic hit, this figure stood at £148.8 million.

The figures also show pre-tax profits jumped 56.3 percent to £91.6 million, while half year sales increased 27 percent to £168.8 million.

The company, which is now valued at around £3.8 billion, said store sales slumped by 18.5 percent to £37.3 million as a result of store closures and other coronavirus restrictions.
