Games Workshop to create a huge distribution centre near East Midlands Airport

Warhammer creator Games Workshop is set to create a huge distribution centre at the East Midlands Gateway logistics site.

The table-top gaming giant, which is headquartered in Lenton, wants to develop a new 177,500 sq ft warehouse at the SEGRO Logistics Parks, near East Midlands Airport .

The move comes after the company reported another record-breaking year in its annual report for 2019, with sales soaring to more than £250 million. It also distributed a £5 million bonus to staff.

Games Workshop has now reached an agreement with SEGRO to develop the new facility on the 700-acre site, which will supplement its current distribution operation in Nottingham.

It will join some of the world's biggest firms setting up at SEGRO, with companies including Amazon, XPO Logistics and Kuehne & Nagel already committing to the park.

Andrew Pilsworth, SEGRO’s business unit director, National Logistics, said: “This leasing represents another significant milestone for SLPEMG, representing further evidence of demand for space, and the pace at which we are able to deliver it.

"We have now contracted almost 3 million sq ft of space across the site, with the relocation of Games Workshop exemplifying the range of occupiers attracted to the park.”

The site offers companies direct access to the M1, East Midlands Airport and it will also include a 50-acre rail freight interchange.

The development is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs, including construction roles, indirect jobs and positions on the site.
