Games to watch as a Chiefs fan in Week 3

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium.

A lot of the games that Chiefs fans will want to pay attention to are happening during the noon slate. That means you’ll want to keep an eye on the box scores or keep watch the RedZone channel on your Fubo.TV account (try it for free). It is still a bit too early to be concerned with the standings. It’s always good to get an early look at how some opponents are handling their business, though.

Here are the top games for Chiefs fans to keep an eye on in Week 3:

Broncos at Packers – Sunday, Sept. 21 – 12:00 p.m. CT

This is the exact type of game that the Broncos front office will expect Vic Fangio to be able to win. He’s playing against a former division rival that he should hypothetically know well. His team got close against the Bears at home last week, but some crucial errors gave the Bears the chance at a game-winning field goal, which if you’re a Bears fan has to feel pretty good.

Each week thus far, Fangio has shown his inexperience as a head coach. His team hasn’t shown discipline in the crucial situations that could have helped them win either game. As the season progresses, I expect Fangio and the Broncos to get better. Signs of improvement could begin to show as early as this week.

The Chiefs don’t play the Packers until Week 8 but it’s worth paying attention to how they perform against an AFC West rival too.

Lions at Eagles – Sunday, Sept. 21 – 12:00 p.m. CT

An all-NFC matchup typically wouldn’t be on the Chiefs’ radar, however, this one is different. The Chiefs play the Lions in Week 4 and they’re coming off a win against an AFC West division foe. This will be a good scouting tape for Chiefs fans because Doug Pederson, the Eagles head coach, comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree. He utilizes some similar concepts in their offense with RPO’s and the passing game.

Additionally, the Eagles are one of the NFC favorites to get back to the Super Bowl this year. They’re a little banged up and currently 1-1 on the season. It’ll be interesting to see if they can handle an inconsistent Lions team at home.

Texans at Chargers – Sunday, Sept. 21 – 3:25 p.m. CT

Chiefs fans will want to pay close attention to the Chargers. They choked away a potential game-winning drive late in the game last week against the Lions, earning their first loss of the season. Now, a relentless Texans team is coming to town.

While it’ll be important to keep an eye on the Chargers, the Chiefs play the Texans in Week 6. That’s several weeks before they’ll face the Chargers for the first time (Week 11). The NFL talking heads have been trying to make Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes the next great QB rivalry for a while now. Watson is still getting hit too much, so I’m curious to see how he handles a tough pass rush from Los Angeles.

Falcons at Colts – Sunday, Sept. 21 – 12:00 p.m. CT

In Week 5 the Chiefs will face the Colts at Arrowhead Stadium to begin a two-week homestand. The Colts are currently tied for the AFC South lead at 1-1. They’ve obviously had a wild offseason with franchise QB Andrew Luck retiring just before the start of the regular season.

Jacoby Brissett is continuing to grow, but this season will tell us whether he’s the future for the Colts or just another guy. The Colts have kept things fairly vanilla for Brissett. He’s yet to complete more than 21 passes in a single game this season. If the Falcons are able to get Brissett out of his comfort zone, it could potentially reveal a major weakness for the Colts.
