HBO has announced a prequel series of Game of Thrones - House of the Dragon.
The recently announced episodes are based on George R. R. Martin's 2019 ' Fire & Blood ' fantasy book.
The spin-off will focus on the history of the House of Targaryen and is set 300 years before the eight recent GOT series.
In the announcement on Facebook, HBO said: "House Of The Dragon, a Game of Thrones prequel is coming to HBO .
"The series is co-created by George RR Martin and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik will partner with Condal as showrunner and will direct the pilot and additional episodes. Condal will be writing the series."
