Games of Thrones cast reveal season eight ending is ‘numbing’ and admit ‘not everyone will be happy’

Game of Thrones stars have opened up on the show’s epic finale, admitting it is “numbing.”

Show star Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, said it’s not possible to “please everyone” with the build-up the show has had.

He told the Radio Times: “I don’t know if you can please everyone. Not everyone’s going to be pleased, because it’s such a big show, and it’s divisive.

“[The ending] was all quite numbing. For us, because it was the end of 10 years.”

Hill’s co-star Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, hinted that some of the characters are set for a less than picture-perfect ending.

He said: “I think everyone would agree in terms of saying they think their character endings are just and are the best way to wrap the characters up. Even if, God forbid, some of them might die.”

The revelations come after star Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, said he is “not happy but very satisfied” with the way the show has ended.

Speaking on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show earlier this year, he said: “[I’m] maybe not happy, but very satisfied.

“I’m so excited for people to see it, I think it’s going to be extraordinary, hopefully it’ll change TV again like it did originally, and break boundaries, I think it might.”

Game of Thrones: Trailer for final series released

Harington’s romantic interest on the show Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, was recently forced to defend the HBO drama over its reputation for nudity.

The actress said there should be less focus on the number of nude scenes because it “doesn’t matter” and is “not what the show is about”.

Game Of Thrones will return for a final series on April 15, simulcasting with the US at 2am. Episodes will be repeated at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
