Although the 2020 Tokyo Games have been postponed until next summer, the public will be able to view the Olympic flame from Sept. 1 at the Japan Olympic Museum in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will soon announce the plan. According to sources, the flame will be displayed in a lantern at the museum.

The flame, which was lit in Greece, arrived in Japan by air on March 20. Following the decision on March 24 to postpone the Games, the organizing committee asked the Japanese Olympic Committee, which runs the museum, to display the flame there.

The museum is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of Japan Sport Olympic Square, where the JOC is headquartered. Visitors to the museum are required to make a reservation in advance, due to coronavirus containment measures.
