The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will hold an emergency meeting over the inappropriate remarks about women by its president.
President Yoshiro Mori, senior officials, executive board members and councillors will attend the meeting, which is scheduled on Friday.
There has been considerable criticism over Mori's remarks, which continue to cause disruptions, including the sudden withdrawal of torchbearers and Games' volunteers who cited the gaffe.
The meeting will include a wide range of members and experts, who will discuss the issue and reconfirm the importance of items in the Olympic Charter such as gender equality.
The committee also plans to put together measures to prevent a recurrence of such an issue.
