Marking the franchise’s first real foray into the next-gen console arena, EA have used the new technology to make the annual FIFA favourite even more amazing.
FIFA 22 not only takes the next step in football simulator evolution, it brings gamers closer to the actual feel of the game.
This HyperMotion technology (11v11 motion capture which learns as you play - but only on next-gen) makes the game feel so much different than what has come before in terms of realism.
This means a welcome change to some gameplay from FIFA 21 , with the action slower and more emphasis is on passing move and tactics than the skill-based, through-ball technique of before.
New ball dynamics mean short and long passing take some getting used to, with shooting also tweaked and finesse shots more powerful than before.
Career mode now has the ability for players to create their own club for the first time, and Pro career sees you starting as a sub before breaking into the first XI.
Volta also comes with an arcade selection of dodgeball, foot tennis, etc, which is tons of fun. Ultimate Team has been given some tweaks too, with playing time rewarded better, and The FUT Champions mode has also had a big refresh, with the competition now split into the Play-Offs and Finals, with access to FUT Champions granted by earning enough Champions Qualification Points in Division Rivals first.
It really is the best FIFA yet.
Rating: 5 out of 5.
