Well, here we are. Michigan State suffers a horrendous 34-10 loss to Ohio State. This could not have gone any worse. No doubt this game was the worst possible iteration of the MSU vs Ohio State matchup. The Spartans could not help but get in their own way. Penalties and mistakes galore. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes were nothing short of stellar.
Ohio State’s offense put on an absolute clinic. At first, Michigan State’s defense was stout. They held the Buckeye’s offense to low numbers. This did not last for long. QB Justin Fields and company settled into an unrelenting groove. The methodical OSU offense consisted of J.K. Dobbins exploding upfield with athletic plays from Justin Fields.
MSU absolutely started off on the wrong foot. They opened the game with two consecutive fumbles on offense. One fumble came from Cody White and the other came from Elijah Collins. The stuttering offense failed to keep the Spartans in the game.
Ohio State QB Justin Fields threw for 206 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Note, MSU CB Josiah Scott gave Fields his first interception of the year. Meanwhile, RB J.K. Dobbins ran for 172 yards on 24 carries and tallied up one touchdown. Both players went absolutely bananas on the Spartan’s defense.
LB Joe Bachie showed up for the Spartans. As did QB Brian Lewerke. Bachie totaled 11 solo tackles and two sacks. He was on fire. Lewerke put up 218 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Unfortunately, their performances were not enough to keep MSU in the game.
Next week, the Spartans face against Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium. The game is on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 3:30 P.M.
