Game of Thrones actor Gemma Whelan, better known as Yara Greyjoy of the Iron Islands, is one of the most fearless female characters on the show who gives men a tough fight on the field. But off the camera, Gemma is a caring mother to a toddler who accompanied her to the sets for the shooting of the eighth season. The actor has now shared a behind-the-scenes picture on her Instagram account where she is seen breastfeeding her baby girl.
Gemma is seen in makeup as she was captivated by her uncle Euron Greyjoy on the show. “Enjoy tonight’s episode guys...! Yara’s got some big news... #got #hbo #plottwistahoy,” she captioned the picture.

The first episode saw her being rescued by brother Theon Greyjoy, who then seeks her permission to leave for Winterfell in order to fight against the army of the dead. The fans were impressed by the actor’s multi-tasking skills and applauded her efforts. Many called the picture empowering and brave with the channel HBO being the first ones to respond to the picture.
The official HBO Instagram handle called her, “aggressive fighter, loving mother” in the comments section. A user wrote, “Proud of you, mama. Nothing like nursing sessions between battle scenes, I’m sure”. Another wrote, “Yara. The ultimate feminist that women need. Woop woop.” One more user commented, “Oh my lovely @gemwhelan to hear you worked and got to breastfeed on set while you filmed the last few episodes made me so happy. should be a inspiration for other work places to be more adaptable. My journey of Motherhood could have really appreciate from this.”

As some of the fans raised concern if the picture was a spoiler, she revealed that it was taken after she filmed one of her scenes for the first episode of Season 8.
Gemma had earlier revealed during her appearance on Good Morning Britain in April that her daughter was on set for the entire duration of filming for the show’s final season. She had spoken about how it was very difficult for her as she was tied into her armour most of the time.
