Game of Thrones season 8: Night King actor reveals detail about final battle that changes everything

Game of Thrones excitement for the eighth and final season is already reaching fever pitch, and that's without additional hints from cast members.

Most fans have assumed that the epic battle we've all been waiting for, between humans and the Army of the Dead, would serve as the grand finale for season eight, and decide the fate of lead characters including Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryan, and Cersei Lannister

However, the actor who portrays the terrifying Night King has revealed that the battle will actually take place in episode three: right in the middle of the six-episode series.

"In the third episode of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intended to be a historic moment in television," he told a fan convention in Hungary, as translated by Mashable. "Almost the full episode will be about the battle. It will take about one hour."

Given that the great battle will take place halfway through the series, it is certain that enough will take place that the remaining three episodes are required to unpack the aftermath.

It's possible that a few temporary alliances will be formed when (if?!) the Night King and his army is defeated, but also likely that Jon Snow, Daenerys and the Lannisters will be fighting one another for the Iron Throne as soon as the battle is over.

Game of Thrones season eight is slated to air in April 2019.
