Game of Thrones season 8 finale: Fans shocked by Lord Robin Arryn transformation

*Spoiler warning for the final episode of Game of Thrones*

The final episode of Game of Thrones has aired, and fans around the world are processing the aftermath along with how each character has changed.

One of the secondary characters receiving the most attention right now is one Lord Robin Arryn, whom fans were surprised to see during the meeting at King’s Landing where the decision on a new ruler for the Six Kingdoms was made.

Lord Arryn was once considered among the most irritating characters on the show, and was most often seen attached to his mother’s breast before her death back in season 4.

His character is now getting a lot of attention thanks for a rather dramatic transformation, portrayed by 18-year-old actor Lino Facioli.

See fan reactions below:

Many are comparing the change to Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) in the Harry Potter series, who also grew from a clumsy, often-irritating child into a confident (and attractive) young man.

The scene is one of the few from the final Game of Thrones episode to which fans are reacting favourably.

Elsewhere, the rushed pacing and plot twists have prompted criticism from audiences and critics alike. Read our critic's review here.

However, the cast has defended the show, with Daenerys Targaryan actor Emilia Clarke praising the arc of her character while also revealing she and co-star Kit Harington "cried" when they read their emotional final scene together.

Game of Thrones is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NowTV in the UK
