Game of Thrones season 8 episode 4: Release date, trailer, title, run time, plot

The last episode of the hit HBO fantasy drama was huge.

Game of Thrones delivered the epic Battle of Winterfell in season 8 episode 3, Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3 recap: The Long Night & Battle of Winterfell .

In an instalment that saw a huge number of epic and heartbreaking casualties, events culminated in a heart-stopping climax that saw one war end and another left to begin.

But as we know, that was only the half-way point of the season as three feature-length episodes remain to bring the War for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms to its dramatic conclusion.

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen remain uncertain allies in the fight against the scheming Cersei Lannister.

Who will be victorious and rule the Seven Kingdoms?

And who will remain to tell the tale?

Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2 airs on Sunday, May 5, 2019 on HBO in the US, being simulcast on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK at 2am GMT on Monday, May 6, 2019 .

The episode is them available on these services on catch up and is repeated on Sky Atlantic at 9pm on May 6, 2019.

Daenerys is ready to face Cersei (HBO)

The preview for next week depicts the aftermath of the battle as the survivors of the Battle of Winterfell and the Great War celebrate their victory and mourn their dead.

However, in the south, there still remains a chief problem: Queen Cersei Lannister.

Still sitting on the Iron Throne with a huge army and manic Euron Greyjoy by her side, Daenerys vows to bring her down.

But who will succeed in stopping the scheming lioness?

We didn't find out the titles for episode 1 (Winterfell), episode 2 (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), or episode 3 (The Long Night) until when the episode aired, so don't expect to know until then.

Unless, of course, it leaks before.

All the plot we have at the moment is from the preview, which sees a mixture of celebration but also turning ahead to the final war against Cersei Lannister.

Her betrayal of the Targaryen-Stark alliance and leaving them to die at the hands of the Night King will not have endeared Daenerys to her and in the trailer she promises to bring the arch-villainess down.

But where does rightful heir Jon Snow stand in all of this?
