Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3: The Long Night breaks season ratings record

Game of Thrones  has broken a season record with The Long Night, which has now become the most watched episode of the show’s eighth and final series.

The Long Night attracted 12.02m viewers during Sunday night’s broadcast.

This number jumps to 17.8m if all HBO platforms (including streaming websites HBO Now and HBO GO), according to TV Line.

Game of Thrones‘s season seven finale narrowly remains the overall record holder for the TV broadcast, with 12.07m viewers.

However, across all platforms, The Dragon and the Wolf hit 16.5m viewers – falling behind The Long Night for that metric.

The Long Night topped the performances of the two previous season eight episodes.

Winterfell, the season eight premiered, was watched by 11.8m viewers during the initial broadcast, and 17.4m people across all platforms.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the following episode, attracted 11.8m people on TV and 17.4m on all platforms.

Gameof Thrones is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK, and on HBO in the US.
