Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3: 11 callbacks, book references and Easter eggs you missed in 'The Long Night'

The latest battle episode of Game of Thrones still found the time to dish out reference and callbacks to seasons of old.

With just three episodes to go until the HBO show comes to an end, showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss are continuing to alert fans to the fact they’ve known the outcome of the big battle since the very beginning.

The episode – titled “The Long Night” – also had some callbacks to the show’s first season and featured several moments hinting at Arya’s destiny as the saviour of Westeros.

Click through the below gallery to find the 13 callbacks, book references and Easter Eggs you probably missed.

Williams herself has revealed that she was worried fans would feel disappointed by the fact it was Arya who saves the day.

This twist came as a shock to Kit Harington who has said he believed his character, Jon Snow, would be the one to save the day.

However, showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have been teasing Arya's destiny as early as season three, even featuring a huge hint to the outcome of the battle in the season eight premiere.

The intense trailer for next week’s episode sees everyone turn their attentions to the Iron Throne and the fate of Cersei Lannister.
