Winter is coming – yet again. Game of Thrones will return in the UK on Sky Atlantic on 13 April, the broadcaster has revealed, the day after its HBO premiere in the US.
There has been no shortage of teaser trailers since the final episode of the fourth series, which managed to cram in more action than some TV shows manage in an entire run.
If you need a recap – it featured ice zombies, dragons, and seemingly half the cast heading off somewhere new – then you can read all about it here. One thing’s for sure, the new series will not want for new cast members.
If 9pm on 13 April seems like too long to wait, fans can fill in the long nights before then by rewatching their box sets or visiting the Game of Thrones exhibition coming to the O2 arena in London next month – though you have to be a Sky subscriber for the latter.
Last time around, for the launch of the first series, Sky simulcast the opening episode at the same time as the US. It generated plenty of hype although the number of viewers watching at 2am in the UK (about 9,000) was dwarfed by its first-day total audience of 1.2 million.
Over in the US, series four delivered HBO its biggest audience since the finale of the Sopranos. Let the games (of, er … Thrones) begin!
