Game of Thrones fans finally been given an expected air date for the much-anticipated prequel, House of the Dragon, with HBO revealing that the series likely won't be on screen until 2022.
During the TCA Winter Tour, programming president Casey Bloys told the panel: "My guess is sometime in 2022."
Adding that writing for the series was already underway, he also confirmed that there were no casting details to confirm yet.
Bloys also said that the studio's focus was entirely on House of the Dragon at the moment, despite having other Gamd of Thrones successors in the works.
He told Deadline: "There are no other blinking green lights or anything like that. Sometime down the road who knows, but there are no immediate plans.
"We are all focusing on House of the Dragon.”
Bloys also opened up on why the other prequel, starring Naomi Watts, was axed.
The prequel, which had been penned by Jonathan Ross' wife Jane Goldman, was suddenly cancelled as the studio decided to focus on a spin-off on the Targaryens instead.
He said: "In development, in pilots, sometimes things come together, sometimes they don’t. One of the things I think Jane took on beautifully, which was a challenge, there was a lot more world creation because she set hers 8,000 years before the (mothership) show, so it required a lot more. That is a big swing.
"One of the things about House of Dragons, there is a text, there is a book so that made it a little bit more of a road map for a series order.
"I think Jane did a beautiful job, it was a big challenge but there was nothing that I would point to and say, oh, that one element did not work, just overall it did not quite gel."
