Game of Thrones petition to have season 8 REMADE reaches over 800,000 signatures

Nearly a million Game of Thrones fans have signed a petition calling on HBO to remake the final series of the show.

The eighth season has received a very chilly reception with fans vexed over the outcomes of some of the character developments.

The popular series is based on George RR Martin's books, however the creator of the Change.org petition, Dylan D, has said producers "David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on."

He says the series deserves a final season that "makes sense" and added: "Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

The petition was created on May 16 has since racked more than 813,000 signatures calling the American television network to start all over again.

Some concerned fans left comments under the 'Reasons for signing' to explain their decision:

Although disgruntled fans complained after last week's penultimate episode, viewing figures still reached a record of 18.4m viewers, according to HBO.

People all have questions about this week's confusing episode of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones prequel

Although season 8 is the last we'll see of the Westeros fight for the throne, HBO have said they're developing a prequel to the hit show.

Complaining viewers will be pleased to know however that the critiqued producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will not be on board, and instead the Mr. Martin will be working with HBO to create the show alongside writer Jane Goldman.

With a working title of Bloodmoon, expect to see stars including King Kong's Naomi Watts, Poldark's Josh Whitehouse, and Harry Potter's Miranda Richardson.

As with all of Game of Thrones series, we'll be waiting a long time for this one with an expected release date of 2020 at the earliest.
