Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams responds after 'uncomfortable' sex scene

It has taken until the second episode of the eighth season of Game of Thrones for Maisie Williams' character Arya Stark to have a sex scene - and fans were mostly repulsed by it.

The 22-year-old has grown up in the worldwide smash hit show, making her debut as a 12-year-old.

And so viewers found it 'uncomfortable' watching Arya having sex with Gendry for the first time.

Maisie's character is now 18 in the show and on the eve of the battle with the Night King at Winterfell, Arya and Gendry finally got it on. Now Maisie has answered fans who couldn't watch the scene.

Writing on Twitter , Maisie made light of the awkwardness, telling fans that they should have been in her position when the episode aired.

She wrote: "if u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my step dad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too ahahakillmeehehe."

Maisie has stated that she had control over how much of her body was seen on screen during the scene.

She did admit that at first she thought the suggestion of a sex scene was a joke, until the realisation set in.

Maisie said about Arya: "This is something she's stayed away from, an emotion we've never really seen her engage with.

"David and Dan were like, ‘It's the end of the world, what else would you have her do?'

"This may be is a moment where Arya accepts death tomorrow, which she never does, ‘Not Today'."

Seeing Arya become "a bit more human" intrigued Maisie and she continued: "So, it was that moment where she says, ‘We're probably going to die tomorrow, I want to know what this feels like before that happens.'

"It's interesting to see Arya be a bit more human, speak more normally about things people are scared of.

It has certainly got Game Of Thrones fans talking, mostly because they were not prepared for the scene to unfold in that way.
