‘Game of Thrones’ fantasy: Who are the favorites for the Iron Throne in the finale?

Welcome back to our fantasy coverage of Game of Thrones, which will obviously come with a massive SPOILER ALERT in case you haven’t watched the first, secondthird, or fourth or fifth episodes of the eighth and final season of the HBO series.

Ready?

There’s a cool twist to the fantasy game that we’re playing with GoT: In the series finale, some of the scoring will change. As usual, fantasy points are earned by characters for acts including violence, canoodling, various acts of “status and power,” wits and schemes and eating and drinking.

But anyone who takes the Iron Throne will get 200 points. Anyone who survives the series gets 20, and if you end the series as King or Queen, you earn 30. So it’s still anyone’s game. Below are our  “best bets” and “sleepers” and a roundup of how the six For The Win writers and editors are doing in a league of their own.

Best bets

Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen

He’s the favorite to get the crown that he doesn’t want.

Daenerys Targaryen

I’m shoving all my chips on her getting killed BEFORE she takes the Iron Throne. She’ll earn some points before that happens.

Bran Stark

Look, he’s the HEAVY favorite according to one betting site, so what’s up with that? I’d take him in the hopes he either unexpectedly becomes king or does some wild magic stuff in the finale.

Sleepers

Arya Stark

She will likely not take the throne, but she could kill the Mad Queen.

Sansa Stark

So much buzz that she could end up grabbing the queen title if Dany doesn’t get it.

Gendry

Could he come riding out of Storm’s End and declare his claim is the best one as the son of Robert Baratheon?

For The Win league update

Nick Schwartz’s first overall pick was Dany, so he’s in the lead by nearly 300 points after she scored 240 in Week 5. But he also has Gendry on his squad. Henry McKenna is in second with Drogon doing a ton of damage to King’s Landing for a 170-point week. Ted Berg’s third-place squad needs both Arya and Sansa to score a ton to have a chance. Nate Scott is probably out but he has Jon. I’m also donezo but hey, Bran, just become King so I can justify picking you? And Michelle Martinelli needs Yara to come back from the Iron Islands.

Standings

Nick — 1,120

Henry — 835

Ted — 790

Nate — 705

Charles — 600

Michelle — 280
