Game of Thrones fans could be compensated £100 if they see or hear a spoiler

The excitement of the Game of Thrones finale has engulfed the nation as we wait (not so patiently) for the conclusion.

But with most British fans opting to watch the last episode on Sky Atlantic at 9pm on Monday (May 20), there's over 12 hours of spoiler-dodging to get through first.

And there's nothing worse than stumbling across a plot twist on Twitter, or speaking to an American relative who accidentally lets out a vital piece of information.

Social media and relatives coughing up spoilers is annoying, but nothing can be as infuriating as having to leave the office when a dedicated colleague who stayed up late to watch the episode starts talking about the twists and turns when you specifically asked them not to.

So one company has decided to take this spoiler pain into account and offer compensation to anyone who has to got through the ordeal.

Endsleigh Insurance Services have announced they will be offering 'Spoiler Cover' to GoT fans.

This new policy, which is the first of its kind in the UK, will allow fans to claim financial compensation for plot lines ruined by friends, relatives or social media, MirrorOnline reports.

Up to £100 per person will be offered if your viewing experience has been tarnished by a spoiler.

And to make the whole thing even better, claimants will receive a consolatory NOW TV pass so they can re-live all eight series of the HBO fantasy show any time they want.

To be in with a chance of getting financial compensation, claimants must submit in 100 words exactly how the plot was spoiled for them. Supporting evidence may also be provided.

There will only be a limited number of £100 payouts available.

Payouts are equal amongst all spoilers and can be historical - so if you had something spoiled for you back in the days of season three, you can still make a claim today.

Julia Alpan for Endsleigh, said: "Game of Thrones is one of the biggest shows of the decade and the last few episodes promise to bring in some of the largest audiences on record.

"With the show historically airing on US screens ahead of the UK, spoilers have always been an issue - so we wanted to address that head on with the first ever spoiler insurance policy, that will offer financial compensation for anyone whose day is ruined by an unwanted plot reveal.

"This is the first time we've launched a spoiler insurance offering, but if we receive a good response then we might even roll the policy out for other popular TV shows - next up, Love Island!"

You can apply for the cover until May 26 on the Endsleigh website.
