Game of Thrones episode five: New spoiler pictures show Daenerys Targaryen getting ready to face Cersei Lannister

Daenerys Targaryen looks wistfully out from her Throne Room as she prepares to take on Cersei Lannister in new Game of Thrones spoiler pictures.

The newly-released images, issued by HBO on Wednesday, show preparations for another epic battle after Emilia Clarke’s character and her army made their way to King’s Landing.

The photos, like the trailer fans were treated to earlier this week, don’t give much away, but are enough to suggest the enormity of what is about to happen.

At the end of episode four, Dany and her Unsullied army travelled to King’s Landing to take on Queen Cersei, played by Lena Headey, who ordered the execution of Missandei before their very eyes.

In command: Harry Strickland and The Golden Company (HBO)

One image shows Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) looking out over the entrance to King’s Landing as the heavily depleted Unsullied army and Dothraki parade below.

Another shows The Golden Company commander Harry Strickland (Marc Rissmann) on horseback in front of his army, ready to defend the Iron Throne from those who wish to take it from Cersei.

The pictures also reveal that Dragonstone will be a key setting for the penultimate episode of the fantasy drama, with one showing Daenerys looking out from her Throne Room into the distance and a different image showing Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) standing to attention.

It is not known if these two photos are from the same image, but it is to be expected Grey Worm will be in pain this episode as he mourns the loss of lover Missandei.

Also in the Throne Room, Tyrion looks shocked and troubled by something he has just been told, while Jon Snow and Conleth Hill’s Varys – who we now know has questionable loyalty to Dany – walk side-by-side on a shore.

Finally, Cersei retains a smug smile as she watches over her soon-to-be battlefield while safely inside the Red Keep, knowing Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) is at sea ready to fight.

Speaking last week, Clarke hinted that episode five is “mental” and urged fans to “find the biggest TV they can” to settle down and watch it.

“They're going to be mental. Episode five is bigger [thank Battle of Winterfell],” the actress said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“I mean, four, five, and six - they're all insane. Find the biggest TV you can.”

Game of Thrones airs 2am and 9pm, Mondays on Sky Atlantic. It’s also available on NOW TV.
