Game of Thrones has a legion of spoiler-thirsty fans looking to drink up any information made available on the show.
As such, the paparazzi have been desperately looking for ways to see what’s happening on the set of the eighth and final season, only to be met by heightened security measures.
Reports of directors shooting fake scenes have spread like dragon fire, with David Nutter – who will helm three of the remaining six episodes – recently discussing them with HuffPost.
“Oh yeah. Oh yeah, of course,” he said after being asked if he knew which scenes were fake and which were not.
Speaking about the security measures taken by the producers, he said: “Well, sometimes there were paparazzi in amazing places – on construction cranes and all kinds of crazy places, to try to get a point of view of things.
“They were all over, everywhere, trying to get in on what was happening. But it was definitely a situation where there was no paper on the set, [that] type of thing.
“[The production team] wanted to make sure nobody knew what was happening, and they went to the nth degree, like they do on the show in general. They basically take it to the point where it’s like the Gestapo. It’s tough to get answers.”
Questioned about how the series will end, Nutter said: “All I know is that [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] spent a lot of time to tell the story in a proper fashion, and the audience will be completely satisfied.
“Not everybody will be satisfied, but I feel the audience will be satisfied with the direction the series goes. It lives up to all the building it’s coming to, I promise you that.”
Speaking previously about the upcoming batch of episode, Nutter confirmed that all eight would “be longer than 60 minutes.”
“They’ll be dancing around the bigger numbers, I know that for sure,” he said.
