Game Of Thrones fans finally have an air date after HBO revealed the final season’s premiere dates.
The broadcaster delighted fans on Sunday when they announced that the eighth series of the hit fantasy will air on April 14.
And there is good news for UK fans at Sky Atlantic confirmed that they will be airing the long-awaited six-episode return to Westeros at the same time, although that happens to be April 15 here.
With much of the plot being kept under wraps, the teaser trailer gives fans a glimpse of what to expect after the season seven finale ended with The White Walkers breaking through the Wall at Eastwatch.
In the short clip, which was revealed alongside a 90 day countdown clock, Kit Harington’s Jon Snow and Sansa and Arya Stark, played by Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams respectively, are seen walking through a dark corridor.
The booming voice of Snow’s real mother Lyanna Stark is heard talking about “protection” while Sansa stares at a statue in horror.
The trio are then stopped in their tracks as they are confronted by three statues – with Snow staring at the most ancient looking of the three.
Fans are already beside themselves with excitement for the new series, which will be the last in the saga.
One wrote: “The teaser that was promised. The long night is finally coming to an end.”
Another said: “See Jon and Arya side by side ready to fight... OMG! Goosebumps!”
“Please can't we just replace February with April and we gotta come back to it later,” begged a third.
Many couldn’t even find the right words to express their joy and went with a series of memes as discussions began to swirl over what would happen in the last series.
Game Of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday April 14. It will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic at 2am on Monday April 15, repeated that evening.
