Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke teases 'shocking things' in the final season

Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke promised “shocking things” are coming in the final episodes of the hit drama.

The HBO fantasy series will come to an end later this year with season eight hitting screens in April, with plot details being kept tightly under wraps.

But Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, has teased fans with “shocking” scenes in the last six episodes, revealing that it took “a long time to film”.

“It's going to be huge, that much everyone needs to know,” the actress told E! on the Oscars red carpet.

Final countdown: Game Of Thrones is coming to an end in a matter of months, with the last series taking a 'long time' to film (HBO)

“It took us a long time to film this one for a very good reason. But I think there's going to be some things...I know there's going to be some things in this last season that will shock people.”

Clarke also admitted that she wasn’t able to steal any mementos from the set after filming wrapped because she was “being watched all the time”.

She laughed: “I tried to throw some things under the wig, hide them in my bag, nothing. Apparently the throne itself you can't...I was there pushing it trying to get it in the car. It didn't fit, so what are you gonna do?”

Meanwhile, Clarke was reunited with her former Game Of Thrones co-star Jason Momoa backstage at the glitzy bash .

The Aquaman star, who played Khal Drogo, shared snaps with Clarke and his wife Lisa Bonet before treating fans to a sweet snap of him and Clarke, saying he was "proud" of her.

Elsewhere on Sunday, HBO gave fans another glimpse at the new season with some teaser clips as part of their upcoming shows slate .

In one scene, Arya Stark – played by Maisie Williams – looked to the sky in awe as Drogon flew past, just as the Unsullied army marched around them.

The short trails also show Visceron, now an ice dragon, as well as the wall crumbling spectacularly.

Game Of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday April 14. It will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic at 2am on Monday April 15, repeated that evening.
