Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau wants an Arya Stark spin-off

Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has backed the idea of an Arya Stark spin-off now that the beloved fantasy show is over.

Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister, shared his thoughts on the final ever episode of the HBO show with his Instagram followers, showing off about how many viewers the last instalment - titled The Iron Throne - pulled in.

“So how about that final episode? Most viewers ever - but it’s over,” he said. “It’s kind of sad. What a great 10 years. Thank you so much for watching. I’m just grateful. That episode, it was amazing! I really thought it was a great ending.”

The actor then delighted fans – and provided a glimmer of hope it could come true – by referencing discussions about Maisie Williams’ character Arya getting her own show.

Coster-Waldau said: “I know they’re doing all these prequels, but what about the sequel? With Arya?

“How about - I’m just throwing something out here… How about a petition? An online petition to HBO that they do a sequel with Arya Stark.”

Season eight had many pivotal moments for Arya, who was just a youngster when she first appeared in the show, including her slaying the Night King at the Battle of Winterfell.

In the finale, Arya decided to journey "west of Westeros," voyaging by ship to the very edge of the Six Kingdoms and flying a House Stark banner on her boat.

Meanwhile, Williams is set to take on a very different role as she guest judges on the UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The 22-year-old was confirmed to appear in one episode on the celebrity panel, alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage.

Game of Thrones is available to watch now on Sky Go and NOW TV.
