Game machine manufacturer is sold in major industry deal

One of the largest machine game manufacturers in the country has been acquired for an undisclosed sum.

Gameco, the owners of Reflex Gaming, is based in Newark , Nottinghamshire, and provides machines to pubs and clubs as well as creating mobile phone and social media games.

Leeds-headquartered Dransfield Novelty Company, based in Leeds, has acquired the entire issued share capital of Gameco but the Reflex senior management team, led by managing director Quentin Scott, will remain in place.

Mr Scott said: "We have always been fiercely independent and proud to be British owned. Our new ownership under Dransfields keeps both of these values in place and provides us with the investment and opportunity needed to further develop the company.

"The newly combined businesses of Dransfields and Reflex create a new and credible alternative for retailers.”

Reflex was established in 2004 by Mr Scott and his colleague Simon Dewson. It went on to become one of the UK's largest independent manufacturers and developers of edge reel and video gaming machines used in pubs, clubs and bingo halls.

It has recently branched out into social media and online games.

Dransfield was established in 1946 and is the country's largest independent supplier of gaming and amusement machines.

The acquisition was sealed with the support of Browne Jacobson, a firm of more than 30 corporate and banking and finance lawyers.

Paul McCannah, corporate finance partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “Both enterprises share a really strong synergy and this deal will allow our client to maintain its preeminent foothold in the UK whilst benefitting from the expertise and investment that comes from joining forces with another sector heavyweight.”
