June 05--The red-hot Chicago Cubs sent Jake Arrieta to the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday in search of their fourth consecutive victory and a sweep of the three-game series at Wrigley Field.
Arrieta was looking to become the first 10-game winner in the majors and was opposed by Patrick Corbin for the Diamondbacks.
At the plate
Against the left-hander Corbin, Cubs manager Joe Maddon gave a couple of regulars the day off, including first baseman Anthony Rizzo and right fielder Jason Heyward. Dexter Fowler was back in his customary lead-off spot. The veteran leads the majors by reaching base safely to start a game 25 times this season.
On the mound
Arrieta brought his 9-0 record and 1.56 earned-run average to the bump. Corbin was 2-5 with a 4.96 ERA for the Diamondbacks.
In the field
Krys Bryant got the start at first base for the Cubs while Matt Szczur started in right field.
