Imagine being trapped inside, the thought of sunlight and the great outdoors are terrifying, yet you have to face them every day to get on with a normal life with only your sister who you can really trust. This is Mikey's life. Despite his huge fear of loud, noisy public places, he ventures out with Meggie, his sister, but something goes horribly wrong.
Tim is ready to face the outside world with all its dangers, or so he thinks. On one of his first expeditions out with his sister he sees something no-one was meant to see, and now a gang are after him and aren't going to stop till he gives them what they want.
But curling up and hiding in his wardrobe with a book won't make the problem go away this time. Somehow, Mikey has to face his fears and manage to go outside and face the world, or die trying…
This book was interesting, with a very set plot, and is good for older readers who don't always enjoy reading or aren't the best at it. It is fairly short so, while it does complete the plot, there isn't huge character development, and you only really get to know Mikey and some of Meggie's personality. I felt that it sort of started in the middle of the book and it never really introduced it properly. The plot slowly unfolds and you get to know things at the end of the book, but I didn't think that set-up really worked. I would recommend this book to older teenagers who want a short, fairly emotional book with lots of action.
